Our initiative

Humanitarian engineering for rural Cambodia

OpenNEXEN is moving from software to engineering consumer products. BCKUP//ENRGY is our current focus, and it starts in the founder's hometown, Kampong Thom.

Start from a real need

Each product starts from a problem we have seen first-hand in Cambodia: evenings that end when the power does, and the Baccalaureate II math exam students study for.

Free to the people who use it

LUMINA3ai is free for every student. BCKUP//ENRGY units are funded by a sponsor, Borey Ly Rany, so the cost to each home is $0.

Honest about what's proven

We label what is built, planned, modeled and measured. Today the runtime is modeled, solar and the pack fuse are planned, and LUMINA3ai is still in beta.
